Each day we will begin with a platform: common tools and materials. A challenge will lend a little direction. Some teaching will introduce the materials. Your task: work out what you want to make of it.

Ciphers and Secrets Wk 8

Sometimes hiding information is a battle. Sometimes it is a game.

Learn the basics of ciphers, or codes: how they can hide secrets, and how those secrets can be revealed. Practice your hacking and decryption skills by tackling a series of challenges to uncover a conspiracy. Build your own Wadsworth cipher machine, and learn the basics of SSH to access remote servers. Then, work together to outsmart your peers. Join one of two teams to create your own codes, and to intercept and decipher the other's.

Reinventing Design: Mikro Bauhaus

After World War I, artists and architects in Germany pledged to employ design and the power of the Industrial Revolution to make simple, useful, affordable products for a better world. They called their school Bauhaus - the building place. They invented modern design.
