Learn the basics of ciphers and codes: how they can hide secrets, and how those secrets can be revealed. Practice your hacking and decryption skills against your fellow spies, and work together to outsmart your peers. Play with low-tech ways to securely send information long distances, and even look into wireless alternatives. Piece together puzzles and discover what was meant to be hidden from you.

Learn the basics of Blender, a professional, open source 3D modeling and animation toolkit. Blender is used to create animated films, visual effects, art, 3D printed models, interactive 3D applications and video games. This program contains numerous modeling features as well as an integrated game and physics engine.
Start with a 2D animation to familiarize yourself with the software. Work up to modeling and rigging a 3D character animation.

****Please note that the tools and techniques explored in this camp require an advanced level of strength and manual dexterity. We will not accept any campers who are younger than 11, and we ask that parents call us to discuss any questions regarding their child's readiness. Campers may also meet the instructor before signing up.****
Build a very stable flat water 12' Kudzu type kayak. Build it using a fuselage frame design. Learn to skin the kayak with synthetic fabric and apply a waterproof finish. A recreational kayak perfect for fishing, paddling, or photography.
This is a two-week course. It will continue the following week. The second week's activities will depend on how fast the class moves in the first week. It is likely that we'll be finishing the skinning in week 2 and then painting it. We will make a paddle as well.

In the tradition of the strategy games Mordheim, Warhammer or Dungeons and Dragons, create a war band of 10 miniatures and skirmish with other 'bands' to gain wealth, powers, and size. Painting your figures gives them a personality all their own.
In between games, help with the construction of a detailed scenery board to have for years to come. Build the environment, learn strategies, play the game. All levels welcome.
Mosaic is the art of creating images with pieces of glass, stone, or pottery. Explore this exciting art form and learn the same techniques used by ancient civilizations, from the Romans and Greeks to the early Byzantine Empire. You will learn the basics of breaking and cutting materials with special mosaic and glass cutting tools, as well as designing, and arranging the tiles to create works of art. During the week, you will have the option of choosing from among the following projects:
~ Mosaic mirror using patterns and abstract designs.

For one, everything is made of atoms except for maybe love and loyalty. Atoms, molecules, and ionic compounds make our air and food and colors and smells and explosions. For two, some things about chemistry may seem complicated or scary like words you can’t pronounce and DNA. So let’s learn some fascinating details about how substances react with each other and how science and art mix very nicely together.
A good chair is so much more than a comfortable place to rest. Inspired by Centerbrook Architects, we will embark on a weeklong chair challenge. You will design and build this essential piece of furniture, beginning with sketches as well as an introduction to iconic chair forms. At the heart of the Centerbrook Chair Project is an emphasis on craft and the magic of design. Each chair will respond to the unique needs of its creator — you!
