COVID Mud Works

Summer Age Group
Younger

Join us to celebrate International Mud Day, Monday June 29, 2020. This week we will honor a material that often gets taken for granted but in fact has bountiful possibilities that heighten the senses, stimulate creativity, and open ended play.

Invent, play, pretend, and experiment outdoors with mud. Concoct baked goods, dump trucks, and bricks to build with. Make a ceramic pot, paint it, and plant a seed in it to demonstrate how mud sustains plants and insects. Construct a mud house inhabited by magical forest creatures you will make.

Finally, use mud to stain and paint pictures using a rock, grass or leaves as your paint brush.
Learn the legends of mud: some say worlds and people are created from earth and clay.
