COVID Minecraft: Engineering Factories

Summer Age Group
Computer

Minecraft is a game that gives you the tools to create amazing structures too impractical for real life. But sometimes, the simple tools it provides can still be a bit limiting. This workshop will explore several Minecraft mods, such as BuildCraft and IndustrialCraft, that allow for sprawling and mind-bogglingly complex networks of machines to easily be created.

Apply real engineering concepts to plan and assemble your own automated factory, from boilers to quarries to item sorters, and the maze of pipes that connects them all. Distribute power to all your machines, and recognize the practical uses of dangerously high voltages. Work with others and connect your creations to produce any number of things, whether it's high-tech semiconductors or common cobblestone (in absurd quantities).

While these mods do use simplified versions of real-world concepts, no prior knowledge is required.
