The Art and Culture of Crayons

-

Crayons are old school. Egyptians used them, Greeks used them. Leonardo too. They have lasted so long because of all the things they can do. Spend a day learning old techniques and new tricks. Rub with them, crush them, shave them, melt them, drip them, smear them. But most important – tell stories with them.

Enjoy a little crayon lit: classic Harold and the Purple Crayon (Crockett Johnson) and the new The Day the Crayons Quit (Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers). Build and fill a useful crayon box. Take home art work.
